Read Aloud
Listen to story.
When an underdog becomes
the hero, the boy
back of the class, middle row,
sees ideas begin, end and
drifts towards believing. Finds purpose.
I was at a loss. I had nothing. So I looked back to my last two March 24th posts and “found” this tanka.
Thank you to Tara Smith, who suggested looking back for ideas and to a voxer conversation on the importance of Read Aloud.
And thank you to Two Writing Teachers March Slice of Life Challenge. The fact that others show up when the writing gets hard, is profoundly inspirational. Find more slices here.
Not having an idea leads to being creative and finding a poem. Wonderful. The few words hold the idea and feeling tightly together.
Love your poem. Inspiration is everywhere.
My imagination pulls a wonderful image from your words, a child feeling so good about himself! Nothing nicer!
This poem has great energy
You thought you had nothing, but we knew you had something. What a lovely poem that springs from the previous posts.
Is Tanka a six-line verse? Thought provoking post. Enlighten me!
https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/text/tanka here’s a link to an explanation of a tanka poem. Not sure if I did it though. My interpretation!
I was that kid enlivened by a read aloud more than once. So grateful.
I love the way you reached back and found this, Julieanne.
I found Day 24 really hard, too, Julieanne. I love the way you handled when the going gets tough. We have an amazing community to lean on.
This whole week has been hard for me. I love your poem, and your idea of revisiting old posts.
I missed this post for some reason. Love the idea of a found tanka.
